What do you do when you chop off a chunk of your eyelashes with an eyelash curler? You say bad words. You cry. Then you send a photo to your girlfriends for moral support. Then you must re-group and figure out your options!
At first, I thought eyelash extensions would be the answer. Years ago I had them for an esthetician training I did and I hated them. I am not into the maintenance of them plus they need to be attached to your lashes and well, I had none in certain spots. So they were out. Realistically, I did not see myself gluing on fake lashes every day. I decided to go with the eyelash serum Latisse. I used it years ago and had fantastic results. So I thought why not give it a whirl again for my gappy eyelashes.
How does Latisse work?
A normal eyelash growth cycle is 12 weeks. A single eyelash grows, becomes longer, thicker and darker. Eventually, it will fall out and most likely you won't notice because each lash is on a different growth cycle. This means you will never have bald patches. With Latisse it keeps the lashes in the growth cycle for an extended period of time making them extra long. Yay! The maximum results with Latisse is 16 weeks. At this point you may stop using the serum every day and just use it every other day or every second day to maintain.
Many people are concerned with the side effects which can happen to some people. They are darkening of the eye, hair growing outside the treatment area, darkening of the eyelid and eye dryness. I personally did not have any of these side effects because of one simple solution. I tossed the disposable hard plastic brushes it comes with and used my own very thin eyeliner brush. This allowed me to precisely apply the Latisse directly to my lash line and not get the excess serum everywhere else. Sure the disposable brushes are sanitary, but so is cleaning your brush with rubbing alcohol after every use. AND the bonus is you will use way less serum and a bottle will last you for the entire 16 weeks! So there you have it, you have minimal side effects and you save a boatload of money!
Here is my before and after!
