Will Drinking Water Hydrate My Skin?
Does drinking water hydrate the skin? The short answer....NO! Let me explain! A common question I hear from clients. While there are tons of really great reasons to drink water on daily basis, drinking water simply does not hydrate the skin. Did you know that only 1% of what you ingest actually reaches the skin?! The water you drink will be absorbed by your organs and tissues before it ever reaches the skin.
So when people say "I started drinking more water and my skin started to look better." Sure you are flushing your kidneys out with water so the result is less toxins in the body so of course you will look and feel better. But it does not actually lubricate the skin.
The best way to hydrate the skin is topically with ingredients such at hyaluronic acid. Though don't let the word "acid" fool you, there is nothing stripping about this acid what so ever. This potent ingredient is like giving your skin a drink of water and holds 1,000 times it weight in water!
